Yeah, 2010s era EA games were not the best on PC. But besides that, it’s a solid sequel from a great game designer. It isn’t as crisp and concrete as 2000’s Alice. Its visuals are a mix of stunning to typical PS3/Xbox 360 resolution. It’s more playable than its predecessor but it isn’t as inspired. The sequel was a beautiful, audacious game that expands the twisted Lewis Carroll allegory for trauma into a horror-heavy dark nightmare, making more deliberate shocking twists and visuals. So in some miracle, EA and McGee released a continuation of such a classic with an even more ambitious title: Madness Returns. While gameplay wasn’t the best, it was still a great work of genius, a fully realized vision like no other video game. His work with the original Alice all the way back in 2000 on PC was an artistic masterwork in atmosphere and game design, a complete, singular vision from an incredible mind. To adjust this game to its highest quality, running at 60 fps and all DLCs, follow instructions here: Īmerican McGee was one of the greatest and most underrated auteurs of gaming.
